Since opening for business in January, 2009, Carol Bushberg Real Estate has sold over 30 Ithaca area properties, with a value of over 5.5 million dollars. In one year, her firm has become the 8th largest real estate company, out of 46 member firms of the Ithaca Board of Realtors.
Based on Carol Bushberg's analysis, more than half her firm's sales this past year involved new home owners chasing the benefits of the Federal Government's First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit. "This offers proof positive that the Federal Government's stimulus package is having a positive impact on the local economy", Bushberg says. "The great news is that, now, you don't have to be a first-time homebuyer in order to benefit from this Tax Credit program. Eligible buyers who are selling a home that they have occupied for five of the last eight years may now apply for a $6500 tax credit, as well. In order to qualify for this Tax Credit, homebuyers must close on their new homes by June 30, 2010."

Carol Bushberg, Ithaca Board of Realtors’ 2007 Realtor of the Year, recently celebrated the opening of her new full-service real estate brokerage, Carol Bushberg Real Estate. “The response to my new company has already been huge,” says Bushberg. “Even with all the worrisome economic news, I can report a healthy level of activity in the Ithaca area real estate market.” Her new office, with spectacular views of Cayuga Lake, is located in Suite 210 of the South Hill Business Campus at 950 Danby Road in Ithaca.

Where did the idea for your company come from? I have been a local real estate professional for the past 23 years. For 18 of those years, I was proud to be a part of Christopher George Real Estate. Starting my own office is the natural next step for a real estate enthusiast like myself. What benefits does your company have doing business in Tompkins County? Ithaca has been my new home town since 1979. I am thrilled that my young son is growing up here, and we are all very involved in our community. It is easy to promote and sell a place that you cherish. In light of the economic difficulties that all of us are facing, I am also grateful to have a substantial pool of local lenders and thoughtful mortgage officers, who work hard to assist my clients with their mortgages and financial needs.
